CGS Electronic Claims Requiring Additional Documentation


For electronic claims submissions that may require additional information, CGS does not currently accept faxed documentation. They request that you utilize the electronic narrative field (the electronic equivalent to Item 19 on the CMS-1500 form) to provide additional details to explain any line item that may need additional explanation.

When requesting reimbursement for the actual invoice cost, nothing else will be requested from CGS as long as the amount is close to normal. However, when requesting reimbursement for more than the invoice cost, additional documentation will be requested.

In the Streamline PM+ software, only the first line of the Medicare narrative will transmit on the claim.  This is found on the M/C Docs (F8) tab.
